  • We’re Quest & Cartridge (not to be confused with those other guys)

So this is strange. I was doing a Google search today for our website and spotted something odd in the AI summary (you know, the summaries we can’t avoid anymore). Some of the info about us was correct, but a lot was, well, not. Clicking some of the links, however, made it clear why. Some…

  • Koriolan One-Page RPG Scenario has been downloaded over 250 times!

Koriolan One-Page RPG Scenario has been downloaded over 250 times!

So this is nice to see. The one-page system agnostic cassette punk inspired scenario we released last year (called Koriolan) has been downloaded a lot. Like 250 times a lot. Over on our Itch.io where it’s hosted it had just shy of 250 the last time I checked earlier in the month. But that’s not…

  • The 2025 Golden Troll Warcry Tournament – Recap and Results

Back on March 8th, the 2nd Annual Golden Troll Warcry Tournament was played out in Montreal. I was fortunate to attend again (even if the logistics of two kids and a long drive complicated things a bit). While I won last year’s event (after a brutal tie-breaker rematch), I came in 3rd out of 6…

Koriolan Featured in Tiny Tome 2 Micro RPG Collection

Koriolan, our system agnostic cassette-futuristic sci-fi horror scenario was recently selected for inclusion in Tiny Tome 2 – a collection of micro-RPGs. Tiny Tome 2 is, as the name suggests, the second collection of micro-RPGs from the same publisher. This collection contains 50 complete games, variant rules, one-shot adventures, inspiration, and other system agnostic scenarios.…

Is Listbuilding Even Possible for the Questor Soulsworn?

One of the warbands I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, has been whether the Questor Soulsworn. I’ve always loved this warband – both in terms of their style, how much fun they were to paint, and how great they are to play. I think they’re my favourite SCE models and for a chunky 6-man…

3-Player Warcry Scenario Ruleset – Desperate Defence

3-Player Warcry games are often frantic and nerve-wracking affairs – in other words, some of the best tabletop out there. However, there’s not a ton of scenarios for 3-player games as opposed to 2-player scenarios. The following post details one of the free 3-player Warcry scenarios that we recently released in the Foetid Lands pack.…

Golden Troll Warcry Tournament 2025 – Early Announcement

Exciting news that just came our way – Montreal’s Golden Troll Warcry Tournament will be coming back in March, 2025. We attended the inaugural tournament earlier this year and had a blast. Afterwards, we wrote about it extensively, covering things like an overall tournament recap, the tournament lists, and even a tournament battle report or…

  • The Foetid Lands Pack – 3-Player Warcry Battlepack

The Foetid Lands Pack – 3-Player Warcry Battlepack

Along the distant edge of the settled world sits a boggy, foetid land left to rot and ruin. Three unlucky bands of warriors still wander these wastes, each in search of either glory or release. No stranger to confrontation, nor with one another, there has grown a rivalry between them, a hatred that only burns…

  • D&D Taverns – ideas for opening scenes and interesting diversions

Taverns. When it comes to taverns as a space and setting in Fantasy RPG settings like Dungeons & Dragons, there really isn’t much left to say about them. Or is there? After all, few scenes are as iconic and even as ubiquitous as the rowdy drinking house or elegant inns and guesthouses where our adventurers…

The Gambler’s Burden – House Rules for Luck (Call of Cthulhu)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Call of Cthulhu is a delightfully high stakes pen and paper RPG system. Set against the backdrop of the Cthulhu Mythos created by H.P. Lovecraft and expanded by countless others (including myself), it’s a setting that’s ripe for mystery, danger, horror, and madness. While the…

    Sorry, we’ve been busy (a mid-August update)

So things have been a little on the quieter side at Quest and Cartridge these past two or three months. When I started creating content for this site, I had just left a job, narrowly avoided a serious burnout, and suddenly had way too much time on my hands. I was able to hammer out…
