Quick update for our Call of Cthulhu 7th edition module The Mask of the Black Sun (available on DriveThruRPG for FREE and up).
I finally had the time (and found the resources) to allow me to add the one component I felt was missing from the module – a map!
For those of you who read the module, you’ll know that this is where the climactic scene of the investigation takes place. Rather than resorting entirely to shapes and lines in paint or on paper, you can now resort to these shapes and lines that I’ve pre-built for you.
And for everyone who might have missed it, the module is a short one night scenario that’s perfect for new or experienced Investigators and Keepers. It involves the disappearance of a strange occult mask, and uncovering the consequences of the theft on the minds of those who took it.
For the map itself, I was able to build it using Dungeon Scrawl, which is a pretty nifty little tool for making basic tabletop maps (and which currently seems to be integrated into Roll20).
In any event, the map was added to the files for the module and everyone who downloaded or purchased it will have it available for them.
On that note – another update: I was able to see how many people both purchased the map and downloaded it.
On DriveThruRPG, for community content like this, it counts the free downloads separate from purchases. To view total downloads, it only appears when you make an update and push it to all the accounts who downloaded it.
In this case, I was able to see as of yesterday that 231 people downloaded the module, and of those 10% chose to pay for it.
So, big thanks not only to everyone who paid/tipped for the module, but also to all those who were interested enough to give it a shot!
